Edward Lengel is one of the premier experts on George Washington, having written “General George Washington” (Finalist for the George Washington Book Prize) and “Inventing George Washington,” as well as heading the prestigious Washington Papers Project, which releases the writings of George Washington. In “First Entrepreneur,” Lengel studies an important part of Washington’s character that has been almost totally overlooked by previous scholars. Lengel demonstrates that Washington’s entrepreneurial side was very important, not just in regards to his business dealings, but in terms of his work as a general and President.
