Adrienne M. Harrison talks about George Washington and his methods of self-education.

Adrienne M. Harrison has written a riveting book called “A Powerful Mind: The Self-Education of George Washington.” Dr. Harrison found the lessons of leadership she learned from studying Washington particularly useful, as she served as company commander in the U.S. Army in Iraq and Afghanistan.

In her book, Dr. Harrison explores the way in which Washington, who received very little formal education, was able to prepare himself intellectually for the positions of commander of the colonial forces and, eventually, president of the United States. If you have an interest in American history and in Washington in particular, you do not want to miss this interview!
